Spring Wedding Flower Inspiration

After a long winter of overcast, chilly weather, darker and shorter days, the welcoming of spring comes with excitement for warmer days and new life in the form of blossoming flowers and branches.

As a Portland elopement and wedding florist, spring wedding flowers are some of my favorites to design with and you can find so many incredible, locally grown flowers in the spring. If you’re thinking of having a spring wedding, you can find some spring wedding flower inspiration in the bridal bouquet design below, as well as my top 3 reasons to have a spring wedding.

Top 3 Reasons to Have a Spring Wedding

Soft + Timeless Color Palettes

When I think of spring wedding flowers, I think of fresh pastel colors of blushes, peaches and creams. Blossoming spring branches come to mind, like spirea (used in this bouquet design), cherry blossom, magnolia and quince. I love how a spring wedding color palette can bring some vibrancy to floral designs without being too bold or intense. They feel soft and romantic and, if you’re a person who likes the classic blush color palette, spring is a great season to get married in.

Locally Grown Wedding Flowers

Springtime is really when florists start to be able to source locally grown flowers for your wedding or event. After several months of winter, when most floral products are either dried or imported (and come with much higher costs), spring brings a wealth of beautiful blooms grown by local farms.

Butterfly ranunculus, ranunculus (both used in this spring wedding bouquet design), tulips, anemones, hyacinth, daffodils, and lupine are just a few of the gorgeous spring flowers that you can expect to see here in Oregon. I can’t stress enough how incredible it is to have locally grown flowers for your wedding or event. The quality often far exceeds blooms that are imported, while they’re much more cost effective and often more environment-friendly.

Vendor Availability

Wherever you choose to get married, there will be a high season. Essentially, this means that more weddings are being booked during certain months of the year (typically late-spring to early-fall, especially here in the Pacific Northwest). In the busier months of wedding season, wedding vendors can book up incredibly fast and may have higher rental prices or service minimums.

So, instead of having your wedding in June, April or early-May can be a great time to get married. You’re still getting the beauty of locally grown spring flowers, along with warmer weather, while at the same time avoiding the super-hot months and giving yourself a better chance that you’re favorite wedding vendors are still available for your wedding date.
