Pastel Spring Flowers in Downtown Portland Wedding Venue
As a wedding florist who serves Portland and the greater PNW, I’m lucky enough to access so many incredible locally grown wedding flowers from spring through autumn and it’s hard to say what season is my favorite in terms of wedding flowers. After long, grey winters where locally grown flowers take a pause, I always welcome spring wedding flowers with excitement.
This collaboration with several Portland wedding vendors takes place at a great downtown Portland wedding venue, the Sentinel Hotel, and features loads of pastel spring flowers that were grown right here in Oregon and Washington. From locally grown daffodils and tulips to ranunculus and blossoming spirea, shades of white, blush, peach and pink bring soft but punchy color to these pastel spring flowers.
Spring Bouquet Flowers for a Downtown Portland Wedding
While many are familiar with the ever-so-popular and beautiful spring flower, the ranunculus, fewer people are aware of the butterfly ranunculus variety. Its delicate looking petals have a fluttery feel, while the stems have a certain bounce to them, making them the perfect pastel spring flower for light and airy feeling bouquets.
Other pastel spring flowers included daffodils with peach centers, which tied in wonderfully with the peach ranunculus and blossoming spirea to really showcase the unique beauty of spring.
Wedding Ceremony Install for an Indoor Wedding in Downtown Portland
Inspired by the white columns inside the downtown Portland wedding venue, the Sentinel Hotel, I opted to design a two-piece ceremony floral installation using pastel spring wedding flowers, which mimicked the tall and lean shape of the columns. Often inspired by the venue setting, I wanted to showcase a beautiful ceremony floral installation without taking away from the striking architecture of the room, but rather highlight it.
As an eco-conscious floral designer, I used sustainable mechanics that can be reused and composted (zero foam) for this ceremony installation.
The pastel spring flowers used in this design were roses, anemones, ranunculus, butterfly ranunculus, daffodils, spirea, and locally grown foliage
Pastel Wedding Flowers for an Indoor Reception at the Sentinel Hotel
For the banquet-style reception table, pastel spring florals adorned the length, with a larger centerpiece in the middle, flanked by ikebana-inspired designs on either side.
If you’re inquiring about wedding florals, I always ask what table shape you’ll be having at your reception. Round tables have one focal point in the center, while banquet-style tables have their rectangular length, which demands some consideration in terms of how they will be filled.
Candles are another great addition to tabletop decor, and you can always opt for unique plates and chargers or glassware to add visual interest and beauty to your dining area.
