Modern Wedding at Cape Horn Estate
All-white weddings continue to be on trend in terms of wedding floral design. One of my favorite takes on a white wedding is when wedding florals truly are all white.
In other words, no greenery, which really enhances the white color palette for a true modern wedding design. This modern wedding took place in late summer at the beautiful wedding venue, Cape Horn Estate. Cape Horn Estate is located in Stevenson, Washington, right near the Columbia River Gorge, less than an hour from Portland, Oregon. Take a look at this modern wedding full of chic and timeless style with an all white floral color palette.
Bouquet Ideas for a Modern Wedding at Cape Horn Estate
Cape Horn Estate is an incredibly stunning wedding venue near Portland, Oregon, filled with beautiful gardens, open air and an incredible backdrop of the cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge.
E + J chose to have a modern, outdoor wedding and kept their floral designs simple, chic and seasonal. The white color palette of the florals didn’t compete with the natural surrounding and the decision to go without any greenery in their floral design was the perfect choice considering all the lush greenery in the natural setting.
For Elise’s wedding bouquet, we went with locally grown garden roses with luxurious Phalaenopsis orchids for a modern look. Bridesmaids bouquets were also all-white, and consisted of locally grown cosmos and feverfew.
Wedding Ceremony Install for a Modern Wedding at Cape Horn Estate
Cape Horn Estate has the most incredible stone arch that often serves as a ceremony backdrop for couples who wed at the estate. The grand structure is set on a slightly raised stone platform with the spectacular cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge in the background.
We opted to do a modern floral installation with baby’s breath, roses and hydrangea, leaving some of the stone structure exposed to showcase the intrinsic beauty of the arch itself. As an eco-conscious floral designer, I ensured this all-white wedding floral install was foam-free and made with eco-friendly alternatives like chickenwire, compostable material and large pin frogs at the base.

Modern Wedding Reception Florals at Cape Horn Estate
The clean, sleek and minimal style of this modern all-white wedding continued through to the wedding reception at Cape Horn Estate. A mix of round and banquet tables adorned the lawn for this al-fresco dinner.
These beautiful modern wedding flowers consisted of bud vases with single-variety blooms like cosmos, anemones, phlox and feverfew, all locally grown in the PNW. Clusters of baby’s breath with varying sized pillar candles adorned the head table for a clean and modern look, giving room for a family-style dinner of wood-fired pizza.
Portland Wedding Vendors Serving Washington Weddings
Cape Horn Estate is a relatively remote wedding venue in Washington, but many Portland wedding vendors do serve these areas in the Columbia River Gorge. It was a pleasure to work with this incredible team of wedding vendors on this beautiful modern all-white wedding and each of their talents truly made the day so memorable.
