7 Spring Wedding Flower Bouquets Designed for Portland Weddings

Spring Wedding Flower Inspiration

There’s nothing quite like the beginning of spring, both on a personal level (YAY, finally some sunshine after those long gray Portland winter months) and on a professional level. As a florist who works heavily with locally grown, seasonal flowers for weddings (you can read why here), the winter months are more quiet in terms of designing as the growing season takes a rest.

So, when spring comes around, as a florist, I get so excited to design with locally grown product again. Below you can find 7 bouquets that were designed in spring, so if you’re getting married between March and June, here are some of the seasonal flowers you might see in spring wedding bouquets.

Blush, Peach & White Spring Wedding Bouquet in Downtown Portland

Some of the first early-spring flowers you’ll see popping up in the PNW grown by local flower farmers are anemones, daffodils, tulips and ranunculus.

This bouquet was created for an editorial photoshoot that took place amongst the cherry blossoms on the downtown Portland waterfront. I wanted to utilize some of the same colors as the white and pink cherry blossoms, so I opted for a white, blush and peach color palette for this spring wedding bouquet.

Pastel Wedding Bouquet with Flowering Branches for a Sentinel Hotel Wedding Editorial

No color palette feels more spring to me than a pastel color palette of pinks, peach and cream. To make this spring bouquet feel especially seasonal, I used one of my favorite flowering branches: spirea.

Flowering branches are such a special ingredient as they are particularly seasonal and are some of the first moments we see in nature after a long winter. You can see more from this spring editorial here.

White, Blush & Terracotta Wedding Bouquet for a Spring Wedding at The Evergreen

This three-ingredient spring bouquet consisted of roses, tulips and ranunculus (both butterfly and standard) and was accented with greenery and textural elements.

Tulips come in all sorts of colors and varieties, and one popular tulip variety you’ll sometimes see in spring flower designs is the lovely La Belle Epoque tulip, which has a super-unique and beautiful rosey mauve color.

White, Coral & Peach Spring Bouquet with Speciality Peonies

Peach is one of my very favorite colors, so I’m always excited to design with this type of color palette, another one that I think is perfect for spring. A flower that florists and non-florists will always love? The peony.

Peonies are often a requested flower, but they really are at their best when they’re locally grown (in this case, spring in the PNW). This spring wedding bouquet was designed with a special variety of peony: the tree peony, which is far less ‘fluffy’ than your standard peony and showcases their yellow centers.

Locally grown ranunculus, spray roses, silene and lace hydrangea were also utilized, along with a few types of greenery to add an earthy touch.

Bright & Bold Spring Bouquet in Peach, Pink, Coral & Orange

Roses and coral charm peonies were the focal blooms for this spring bouquet for a wedding at Portland’s Ox Restaurant, along with ranunculus, snap dragons and locally grown foliage.

Shades of pink and orange are such a show-stopping color palette, especially if you want to bring some vibrancy to your flowers. Along with these bold colors, the use of peaches and corals helps blend the two together to make this palette feel cohesive.

Mauve & Berry Wedding Bouquet with Spring Flowers

A berry-toned color palette is always one I love working with, and mauve is one of my other favorite colors. This lush spring bouquet was designed with speciality garden roses (Distant Drums is a florist fave!) and lots of unique texture, including astrantia, blossoming nine bark and mauve-colored allium.

Lush, Wildflower Bouquet with Pink, Lavender & Blue Flowers

A color palette fit for a fairytale wedding - I personally love the combination of pastel hues of pink, lavender and blue. Locally grown campanula in both pink and lavender stole the show for me when designing this spring bouquet.

Delphinium and roses were also used, along with wild and textural elements like Queen Anne’s lace, astilbe and clematis vine.
