Urban Indoor Wedding in Portland, Oregon with Terracotta Wedding Flowers

My first wedding of 2022 (2.22.22 to be exact!) took me to one of my favorite intimate wedding venues near Portland, Oregon. While I’m a huge fan of outdoor spaces and love designing wedding flowers for events outside, I also love bringing the outdoors inside, and create for urban spaces.

Saint Irene’s is a modern, industrial space located just outside of Portland, Oregon in the small city of Tualatin (about 20 minutes south of Portland). Full of natural light, it’s the perfect venue for a smaller gathering and can accommodate up to 80 people.

Below you can find an array of inspiration, from an earthy, neutral and terracotta color palette to floral installations, modern indoor venue vibes, and some DIY elements that this couple created to really put that special, personal touch on their wedding day.

Neutral and Terracotta Wedding Bouquet in Portland Oregon

Bouquet Flowers: Neutral + Terracotta

Neutral and earthy colors like creams, beige, sand, terracotta and rust have been trending for what seems like years now, but I don’t think it’s a trend that will go out of style anytime soon. There’s something rather timeless about an earthy, natural color palette, while also often creating more visual interest than whites and greens.

This bouquet designed in terracotta wedding flowers included some of my favorite roses: Playa Blanca, Quicksand, Majolika, Combo and Toffee (true rose staples for terracotta wedding flowers). Ranunculus, scabiosa and sweet peas were the smaller, bouncier blooms to really give this terracotta wedding flower bouquet an organic feel. Eucalyptus (seeded and baby) was used as the foliage, along with jasmine vine (I truly feel that vines always give a design a romantic and natural essence).

DIY Elements for an Urban Wedding

One of my favorite touches to this urban wedding in Portland was the hundreds of paper cranes hung from the high ceilings of the venue. The colorful, floating cranes gave the space such a magical feel, adding tons of visual interest to a space that otherwise felt very modern and industrial.

Wedding Ceremony Floral Installation for an Urban Venue

There are some wedding venues that are just perfect for hanging floral installations and Saint Irene’s is one of them. While a lot of ceremony flowers are designed on structures, like arbors, indoor venues can give you the opportunity to do hanging installations in a space.

This urban venue had beams along most of the ceiling, allowing for plenty of spaces to do hanging installs. The couple opted for a statement ceremony piece which was a two-part floating floral installation in their neutral and terracotta wedding color palette. These sorts of installations I love, and as always, was designed using sustainable mechanics (foam-free!).
