Terracotta & Rust Flowers for a Fall Wedding at Twin Willow Gardens
Terracotta and rust has been a well-loved color palette in the wedding flower world for several years now, and I don’t see it going out of style any time soon. I love when a couple comes to me with a color palette that makes sense with the season they’re getting married in. So, when Kendra came to me with her idea of a warm palette of rusty oranges and maroon, I got excited to begin planning her wedding flowers for this fall wedding up in Washington State.
Kendra and Alex got married at Twin Willow Gardens, a unique and beautiful wedding venue that combines majestic woodlands with an outdoor, tented space surrounded by beautiful gardens. Twin Willow Gardens can accommodate up to 150 guests and weddings held there truly feel like you’re having a garden party with your closest friends and family.

Terracotta & Rust Wedding Bouquets
Early fall months like September are an amazing time of year for locally grown flowers, and as an eco-conscious wedding florist, I love utilizing those locally grown flowers throughout my wedding season.
Terracotta and rust are unique colors in the wedding flower world, but fall is truly a great season for this color palette. Rust-colored rudbeckia, terracotta roses, orange dahlias, dried bracken fern, jewels of opar, maroon scabiosa and nandina foliage created these rust and terracotta colors, while blushy-peach dahlias and foxglove added a feminine touch to the bridal bouquet.
Terracotta & Rust Wedding Ceremony Installation
The wood arbor at Twin Willow Gardens tucked in the venue’s forest was one of the larger ceremony structures I’ve designed on. I loved how impactful this structure was amidst the tall trees surrounding it, making it feel as if you were truly emerged in nature.
This ceremony installation continued our terracotta and rust color palette, which really popped against the natural greenery around it. Additionally, it was designed using sustainable mechanics (no floral foam). Staggered floral arrangements line the aisle and were then repurposed to the reception space.
Tented Wedding Reception at Twin Willow Gardens
I absolutely love an outdoor wedding reception! The great benefit of a venue with a tent on-site means outdoor events can take place regardless of the weather. Even though this fall wedding at Twin Willow Gardens was just about perfect (early fall warmth and no rain), it’s nice to not have to worry about the natural elements that can impact a wedding day.
We opted to add some greenery to the chandeliers and ceiling of the tent, bringing the white blank slate of the tent to life. This also tied the greenery of the venue’s natural gardens and landscapes to the reception space.
Aisle arrangements were repurposed to half of the guest tables, while the other half featured vignettes of floral bud vases and pillar candles. I’m always a fan of mixed-design concepts when it comes to guest tables - this greatly helps with floral budget, but also adds visual interest to a reception space.
